What flooring for our dark hallway ?

TherE is very little naural light, the front door leads to the hallway which has doors to the bedrooms off it, so I would quite like all shoes off in the porch and then a cost carpet in the hallway but am worried it will look scruffy quickly.
I'd love a brintons humbug stripe as the Walls are plain cream. But it would cost £800 dye to the shape.
Any similar designs out there ghat are cheaper and I wouldn't mind replacing in a couple if tears if it got trashed or went out of fashion ?
Thank you

What about painted cream floorboards? It might help reflect what light there is? does it have to be carpet?

How about a polished cream stone floor?
