Tell me about angle grinders

I need to cut some paving slabs ( cheap concrete, not stone) and have borrowed a friends angle grinder. I do all the DIY in the house so am used to using stuff like this but have never used an angle grinder before. What are your hints and tips please as I have learnt from experience that there are always easier ways to do things when you've used tools for a while.

Thanks

Wet the slabs to keep down the dust.

Wear ear defenders. Close all the windows and doors to keep the dust out. Definitely wet the slabs. Do a few test runs on one slab to practice.

Ah, have the goggles and dust mask, will dig out the ear defenders.

Wetting the slabs is an excellent idea, thank you!

Use a diamond cutting disc for slabs and be carefull that there is no steel reinforcing inside the slabs

Overdo your protecting because even the tiniest slip can cause you serious damage. Ear defenders, goggles, boots, gloves, full length overalls (tucked in so there is nothing flapping around).

Make sure you and the slab are stable before you start cutting and support the slab so it won't drop or tilt as you make the cut. Don't be tempted to just trim a bit on an unsupported slab.
