Our new house has big French doors

I've either seen ages ago, or dreamt a fabric I want fir curtains

a word in my mind is brocade but I'm not really sure what brocade is and if it's what I want.

So my imaginary curtains.....

They're gold, with smallish but not fussy or too dense flowers or foliage, I think in various colours but not bright of stand outish. And I think they're silk or a silkalike

Have trawled eBay for old ones because I think what imagine would be ££££ and we're v poor having just bought a house

So where else can I look for second hand or cheap or seconds or otherwise discounted fabric?

Do you have a curtain exchange near you? That may be a good starting point.

Are you any good with a sewing machines, making curatins is 1 of the easiest things to do, its basically just cutting out the length you need, hemming it up and adding something to hang them with like header tape, eyelets, extra tabs for tab tops.

If you look in your yellow pages for fabric shops you can get some fabrics really cheaply and will save you ££££s by doing them yourself.
