I want to help but the sofas all seem so different and with no common theme to latch onto
look on sofasofa. the kirkdale one is similar to the John Lewis Duresta fabric.
I take it that you are looking for similar but cheaper.

yes, you are on the right track with the kirkdale range. sorry i am still trying to get a proper idea myself of what i want so i just linked to ones i liked. i like the velvet, silk, buttons, castors sort of look, in the plums, violets, greys and teal colours.

have just realised the second laura ashley link doesn't take you to teh right image. it is the two purple armchairs in the 'all a flutter' collection.

Kirkdale belvedere seems to be the best fit to me, with a bit more of an up to date colour choice.
With the cheaper ranges you never seem to get the colour subtlty of the dearer ones

sofa.com do really nice sofas in velvet fabrics. That's where I'd get one from - there are quite a few which look something like the first Laura Ashley one you linked to.
