faded wood flooring?

me again, i forgot my other dilemma.

the wood floor covering is is good nick but faded in areas of high use. anyone know if it is possible to get it restained (my preference!) or if i have to replace it at some point? won't be possible now, too skint after painting!

Restaining it might make it look a bit patchy. I would be tempted to sand down the whole area and restain/varnish the lot.

hmm, this is good advice as i realise i have no idea what our vendor originally bought so wouldn't know where to start matching colour wise.

back to the drawing board (trying to convince dh new carpet and wood flooring needed throughout... suspect i will fail!)
