So so annoying Why do they do it.
We had 4 round as it is an unusual house and have done a lot of work. All pretty much the same and we chose one we liked best. Have had long and annoying emails from the other 3 wanting details of what we have agreed, why we chose who we chose and if there is anything they can do to change our mind. I sent a set polite reply to them all saying thanks for coming round but we have decided and thats that. Have just received 3 more begging emails asking us to reconsider. Have never known this before Is this a new thing?

I have never heard of that before, I expect it's because the market is so slow and they're desperate for the work.

We've had that a lot! The estate agent we didn't choose bombarded us with emails and letters even after we asked him to please stop (!) and we've had so many agents sending letters saying "we've noticed you're selling, don't you really want us to sell it for you?!" Best one so far was one that said they'd noticed we were SSTC but they'd STILL like to market it for us cos they'd get more money for it.... Basically, times are tough for EAs so they'll do anything to get people on their books! And the rejected ones seem to take it the hardest! (The one who we rejected made his valuation be Googling our house ... Doh!!!)

We had that as well.

The other agents kept dropping business cards through the door saying 'call me'. Even carried on when the sold board was up. Wouldnt be surprised if they are now hassling the lady who bought!

I need to reply to them and get rid! They just don,t take the bloody hint so so annoying ESP as they all were saying they were so busy and inundated surely one more wouldn,t make much difference Grin

well, they're busy in the sense that they have more unsold properties on their books than ever before....

I know think I may be in for a long wait to sellthis time

We've had some of that as well.
I guess once they have had an easy sell in your area, and particularly in the current market, they will keep trying. They probably need all the commission they can get. We've had the business cards and the notes, even had one phoning us (how they got the number i've got no idea as we are ex-directory). Meanwhile our house has been on the market for 3.5mo and now we are getting "but we will manage to sell your house, unlike your current agent".

We are actually quite happy with our agent, as they seem to be working their best. There isn't any pressure for us to move, so we are happy to stay until we have a decent offer, and in the meantime it is nice to deal with an agent who's friendly and easy to deal with. They also do all (well most...) of the viewings for us, while we are out.

Sounds like you have a good agent there Honneybunny. I dont think there is a lot of value in moving from one agent to another. Buyers all look on RightMove these days and the name of the agent is secondary.

As a tip though, do make sure that photos of things like the garden are kept up to date. Pictures with daffodils in them now both date when you went on the market and also imply a lack of interest in selling. I often take the garden pictures myself and email them through to the agent to update RightMove.

Honneybunny · 25/05/2011 18:09

Yes gnome, i think he is one in a million.
When we suggested he'd come and take new pics of the garden, as all the fruit trees were blossoming and the roses were out, he came the next day and took some wonderful new pics.

GnomeDePlume · 25/05/2011 22:20

Sounds like a keeper Honneybunny! I hope you make a sale soon.
