So i decided to strip my front door at the weekend ready for painting only to be told it has woodworm so is pointles and to get another one (i secretly wanted to get a new one anyway but OH said we couldnt afford it- never have i been so glad to se woodworm!). But upon looking its harder than i thought, checked all the usual places, door places near us, b&q Wickes and even ebay. it measures 91cm wide and 208cm high. Hoping to fins some salvage yards today while im off but when ive googled them a lot are just selling bricks and paving stones.. anyone know where else i can try, thanks

We had an unusually large sized door - the only option we had was to get one bespoke made....sorry I'm not of any help!

We had to have one specially made too, sorry!

Doors are sold in inches: 36 inches x 82 inches.

You need to ring up a specialist joinery merchant and ask which doors they have in the larger size, try a large local wood yard as they can normally order them in.

eg. here's one although not particularly cheap, depends of course on what style you are after. (you can normally trim a little off the height). You can search that site by door size.

A made to measure front door is going to be about £400 anyway I'd think, an internal door for our place was £360.

I tried that website - lots to choose from- and our doors were still too large. Our bespoke was more around the £1k mark.....but it depends on style, glazing and the type of wood.

Sorry - ours were 2 french/storm doors......and huge, in case the cost seems high. Bigger than 2 standard sizes put together.

I know what you mean ....I talked Dh into changing ours, thinking it would be a couple of hundred quid for 2 doors, plus fitting etc.....was a bit Shock once i investgated further, found out we had to get bespoke. £1k was the cheapest quote by miles too!!

They do look fab though Grin and i had minging upvc before!

Oh god, im going to have to pay arent i! altough i have seena lovely on on ebay for a fiver, totally ruined by flaking paint but im a demon with the paint stripper so could bring it up new again. I've avoided getting a pvc one for years, i just hate them, plus i want to paint it a nice oxford blue so it has to be wood, if i dont get this on on ebay ill be rining a joiner and having a large vodka in my hand prepared for the quote Shock
