Moving dahn sarf around about end of July and need some assistance with looking for rented property please o wise ones. I've had a speculative look and feel like I'm looking for the impossible already.

Any ideas what areas I should be looking in for a house, pref 2+ bedrooms for around £1000 pcm? Could stretch a bit higher, but I don't want to.

Would like to be inside the M25 for commuting time.
Am concentrating efforts on a triangle inbetween Epsom, Wisley & Kingston. Am I whistling in the wind on this budget?

Oh yes, and we have a dog - I should just give up now, shouldn't I? Brew

Possibly whistling in the wind a little...fancy a flat instead? Wink

Any reason why you have chosen that area? If you try a bit further down the a3 you?ll get more for you money (well the further down the more you?ll get...) even 10 / 20 minutes will make a difference and take you from flat to house.

Virgowoo · 21/05/2011 21:54

Do you have a flat mrsoliverqueen? Wink I'm not against flats per se, but I NEED a garden.

Postcode KTsomething is what we've come up with as a reasonable solution to DH commuting to West London & me wanting to be somewhere with trees/parks etc + not getting stabbed regularly + not next door to Heathrow.

I'm finding houses in Chessington/West or East Molesey/New Malden for a bit over 1k. Are those areas crap? I have never lived in t'South before. Break it to me gently.

Give me a bit and I'll find you some ideas. Chessington/Moseley/NM are not bad actually. But I'll have a good look now...

RockStockandTwoOpenBottles · 21/05/2011 22:11

Here you go - there are 34 listed here. I haven't looked through all of them, but they are all within 5 miles of Kingston.

Virgowoo · 21/05/2011 22:15

Thanks RockStock. Smile I'm after an idea of what areas to consider to avoid unnecessary stabbage too.

Walton on Thames is nice and there are properties with gardens. You also have the tow path close by for dog walking and bushy park.

neenewps · 21/05/2011 22:21

Sorry meant to say properties with gardens within your price range.

Virgowoo · 21/05/2011 22:38

Brilliant thank you, there's some new ideas for me.

I've already seen the Cobham one on FAP today, nice, but we have two cars and that road looks like a missing wing mirror waiting to happen.

Byfleet's ticking boxes for me. That's quite a nice house too. Lovely garden.
Anyone know anything more about Byfleet?

No no I have a house...also wanted trees and parks (not getting stabbed of course is also a bonus). DH has quite a long commute though, not sure if that was a wise move or not tbh, depends on what hours your DH will be working too and if you have DC's what age they are.

Not sure what Chessington and the Moseleys are like, I know loads of people who commute from the Guildford though...of course the bigger the town you move to the more social things going on which is good if you are moving to a new area.

cece · 21/05/2011 22:48

Byfleet is OK but not a lush place to live. West Byfleet is 'nicer' and Pyrford is nicer still. Byfleet is close ish to the A3 - but the other two are only 5 mins further away.

Given the choice I would go for either West Byfleet or Pyrford. Or how about New Haw - will look for you...

fab location

walton-on-thames

Virgowoo · 21/05/2011 23:01

Tricky, isn't it? I just want the moon on a stick.

And to live somewhere where people are nice and not weird and will make friends with you at the drop of a hat.

DH says (jokingly, I hope) "you'll have to tone that accent down a bit if you're going to fit in". I hate him. Wink I'm clearly not the first person to move southwards past Watford.

Nice.
Dubious about dealing with an EA called Flashman & Co. though. WTF?

Thank you all for your contributions, I knew this would bear fruit.
Off for a Wine now & ruminate on the possibilities.

Epsom/Ewell you could probably find something for a £1000 but you might have to wait a while and it wouldn't be in the best bits. My two bed flat was £1200 per month, no garden but big roof terrace.

Have you thought about Stoneleigh? Worcester Park?

The places you've listed, Chessington etc aren't brilliant but ok.
