which wardrobe? ikea plus paint or b&q?

we're on a tight budget and would appreciate some input...

Option 1 is the Aspelund from Ikea www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/10159834

but we would need to paint it some kind of browny wood colour to fit in. Is this easy to do? How would that work? Is there any way we could avoid sanding?

Option 2 is this from B&Q www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.jsp?action=detail&fh_secondid=10798839&fh_view_size=12&fh_sort_by=_price_rrp_min&fh_eds=%C3%9F&fh_sort_order=1&fh_location=%2f%2fcatalog01%2fen_GB%2fcategories%3C{9372014}%2fcategories%3C{9372036}%2fcategories%3C{9372140}%2fcategories%3C{9512013}%2fspecificationsProductType%3dwardrobes&fh_refview=lister&isSearch=false

but i worry about the quality. is it argos-like? (i.e. difficult to assemble, wood that cracks easily, ends up wobbly)

Option 3 anywhere else that does cheap but decent enough furniture. like another ikea that i just haven't heard of yet?????

I much prefer the Ikea one in terms of appearance - I don't know how the two compare in quality. I'm not sure painting it a dark colour would work though, might it be worth keeping an eye on wardrobes being listed locally on ebay and choose something that way? I think you are more likely to find one that matches your needs that way.

yeah the ikea one is prettier. and i've had loads of ikea furniture over the years rarely been disappointed. shame it's white is all...

will check ebay thanks for the tip!
