Painting on bare plaster

Can anyone help?
I have a 6" wide floor to ceiling, new strip of bare plaster in our shower room. Before I paint it (Dulux bathroom+ emulsion) should I treat I with something, such as PVA solution?

Thank you

you can give it a coat of paint mixed with water first to seal it.

I think you are suppoosed to paint it first with watered down emulsion paint and let that dry completely before the first proper coat but I can't remember what proportions you use in the watering down, sorry!

You can also use thin wallpaper paste. Our plasterer said this was as good as using the actual sizing stuff that you are supposed to use before painting on bare plaster.

PVA solution is good.

Half emulsion, half water for the first coat. Soaks in instantly, but allows the paint to bond with the plaster.
