Hello MNers

So...been unexpectedly offered a job in Hereford. Pleased but not overly familiar on the area so needing advice on good locations...any recommended nearby places/places to avoid (can prob live up to an hours drive away from Hereford itself - so S Shropshire/just over the Welsh border also an option). Your ponderings, musings and wise words are most appreciated :)

I love Hereford itself - lived in the Aylestone Hill area for a while which was great. Lovely houses and walking distance to town. I also loved the Golden Valley area between Hereford and Hay on Wye. I used to work north of Hereford on the Shropshire border around Wigmore which was also lovely. The schools are mostly good. Am jealous - would move back there like a shot!

I'm not sure if its still a problem but it used to be a major PITA traffic-wise if you were coming into Hereford from the South (Belmont Road/Ross Road) to cross the river and get to the city centre. Also prone to flooding around the Belmont roundabout but I presume, as they've built a big Asda there now, they've probably solved the flooding problem.

That was quite a few years ago now though so it may have improved

Traffic is v.bad from the south side and the city can get gridlocked if something goes wrong.
However, great place to live, people are so chilled its almost funny!
