White high gloss kitchen - what colour worktop?

our kitchen is White high gloss and the floor is slate grey. We need a new worktop and splashback and I don't know what colour. It is black at the moment and makes the kitchen feel cold as the sun doesn't come round till late afternoon. Wood is quite high maintenance but I need a colour to warm it up. I am useless at thinking what works together and always get it wrong so your ideas will be a great help. Thank you!'

Mine's gloss white, worktops are a sandy, grainy colour. Don't get glossy worktops though, you'll be polishing them forever more!

wood?

Thanks for the replies I like the idea of a sandy colour or wood. I am going to a local kitchen shop on Monday to see what they have.

I have white-ish sparkly granite/corian/silestone. Almost like Stellar Blanco.
