Am intruiged - are they any good?

Tips for selecting one?

Haven't got one but saw one working and was unimpressed. It was quite spluttery and needed to heat up again to fill a second cup.

Can you remember what make it was sixties?

I'm a bit put off by safety issues if you have young children!

Not impressed. I filter all my water whether for cooking or drinking as this is a hardwater area :This does not appear to have a filter though you may like to check.

I was unimpressed by the apparent safety mechanism for the tap. Simply push down and turn - many a toddler could work that out and it wouldn't be so much your own child that I would worry about - you could show them the danger - it would be other people's children who weren't used to boiling water coming out of a tap and it's easy to forget to tell them.
