Hi

Can someone who has experience with a dark gloss kitchen please help me?
We are redoing our kitchen, which we already had when we moved in last year, is now wood. We are so in luv with the aubergine gloss units with no handles from moben. they look so neat and modern. But we are worried. ASo i have the following questions for anyone who can help.

  1. someone told us that they would scratch easily and that they show on colours like balck and aubergine. Is this true. Will it loose the shine and the new look soon?
  1. do they show a lot of fingerprints and watermarks because it s dark? My wooden units now need a good wipe only about once a month but if i ended up doing it, say every other day or something that would be a pain!

3.Are they durable? ?a couple of wooden doors have come off in my kitchen now. does the same thing happen to gloss too? Because I use the kitchen a lot.so are they hardwearing ?

4.The gloss units look all the same, wether it s B&Q or Moben or Magnet. So does anyone know if there is a difference in quality that warrants the higher prices?

We need to decide soon. Please Help!!!!Thanks.

I have a (B&Q) black gloss kitchen .
I also have 2 children , a large German Shepherd , and run a childminding buisness from home .

It shows up finger prints (and doggy nose prints) like you wouldn't believe .
The best thing for cleaning is a spray bottle of windolene and a lint free cloth .
I do clean it more often than my old wooden kitchen , but when i used to clean the wooden kitchen it was a tougher job because it was only wiped down once every 6 months (minger) , so it allowed time for kitchen greases to build up .
Where as with my gloss kitchen , a quick wipe down every couple of days keeps it glossy looking . (and it is quick , takes me 10 mins max)

As for the scratches , yes , we have loads .
Firstly because we used the wrong cleaning products to start with .
And secondly because I can't seem to stop the mindees driving toy cars over the doors ! (grrr to other peoples kids , but that's a whole nother thread !)

Durability - none of my doors or (my precious) soft closing drawers have malfunctioned . And we have had this kitchen for 3 years now .

Hope this helps .
