laminate over tiles?

Can I put a laminate floor over slate tiles, if I use a good underlay? I know that slate is more beautiful than laminate but the tiles are getting really scratched and are hard to clean. Was thinking of a good laminate like Quickstep.
Thanks for any help!

No reason why not, assuming the tiles surface is nice and flat, apart from, as you say, slate is more beautiful than laminate!

I have a feeling no if 'bumpy' We are looking at Quick Step at the moment and spoken to various suppliers who all drone on about the prep/ fitting. Got to be flat. Though if boards go on top of slate then the laminate, could work.
