Are extending/telescopic curtain poles crap or great?

As above, really. Is there any reason why it's better to get a normal one and saw it off? There are lots of things I enjoy more than sawing metal.

I find them unbelievably annoying. My sister has them in her house and they get jammed on the join all the time when you pull them closed. I always end up nearly pulling them off to get them over the lip. Very irritating.

That's exactly what I was afraid of. Looks like it might be hacksaw time Hmm.

We have one in my dd's bedroom and it is no problem at all - had never even thought they would jam until I read this!

All of ours are telescopic. No probs at all. Life is too short to be hacksawing metal

Hate them. The rings jam on the join. Keep losing curtain hooks. next time will be getting them sawn down to size.

Cheap ones are crap especially with plastic curtain rings. John Lewis have smooth joints so fine.

But really - it takes 2 mins to cut a pole to length - I'm amazed there's even a market for telescopic poles.

neolara · 15/04/2011 20:57

Absolutely HATE them. They annoy me EVERY time I shut the curtains. Don't do it to yourself!

ViolaTricolor · 16/04/2011 11:29

You see, I do become really enraged by things like that. They would be from John Lewis though.

Sawing isn't really such a problem -- the only ones which fit my extremely narrow set of style preferences happen to be telescopic.

Buy a cream cake to reward yourself after the sawing. That would be my plan.

I have to do the whole house. I might end up quite fat Grin.
