would this look silly in a lounge?

looking for something to store the kids toys in which will fit in the recess where there are (falling down) shelves at the moment. Wall is too crumbly to put shelves in & can't afford to get it sorted for a couple of years.

should have said, we live in a victorian terrace - lounge & dining room have been knocked though. Dining room part is the playroom atm

No, I think it'd look fine. If it was a bit more 'frilly' it might look to kitcheny, but because it is straighter IYSWIM, it is more loungy.
