Myself and my partner moved into our rented property one year ago, and have just received a letter from the agents saying that since we are now staying on a month-by-month basis (e.g. the notice period of one year has now expired), we need to pay them £33 each (e.g. £66 in total) for a 'tenancy renewal fee'.
This seems a bit of a rip off to me! I thought that after a year, a shorthold tenancy agreement automatically became a rolling agreement, and you didn't have to pay extra for that to happen! (No mention of it on tenancy agreement). Does anyone know what wording I could use to put in a polite but firm email to say we won't be paying this fee?
