Has anyone created an exposed brick wall?

But not by exposing it, if you see what I mean. I am looking for the bricks but they would be not as wide as normal bricks, like a facade.

No amount of googling will help me (doh emoticon)

I wondered where to start- the wall in question is a normal plastered one with breeze block behind it, I want it to look aged not new and I want the mortar in between - the only thing I can find is hideous wallpaper.

Would be very grateful of any pointers.

Do you mean thin 'slices' of bricks , almost like tiles to stick on the wall?

I think it sounds pretty naff, if you don't mind me saying. It will not look old - it will look like you stuck some slices of brick to the wall.

You can buy flat brick or stone moulds for this job, you simply remove the old plaster and replaster with new material then the flat brick mould is pushed into the wet render then removed to leave a brickwork pattern. Adding a little cement or tile dye to the render first will give you the colour of brick you require then simply paint or stain the motar lines to suit.

I have exposed old brick walls but never used the flat brick system It just looks fake and OTT distressed iygwim.If you have an All Saints clothes shop in your town they have used the very best replica reclaimed bricks in their current interior design and they still look awful.I think if you used it on a tiny area it might be ok eg on a pillar or something in a warehouse type apartment otherwise no.

Still going to do it. I know it will look great.

It's only going on one wall and the bottom of this wall will have a moulding and some tongue and groove cladding. I just know it will look lovely.
