Modern Conservatory

Does anyone have a 'posh' conservatory...I've seen adverts for apropos and similar companies. Just wanted to get an idea of ££££s.

We're looking at a house which would need some type of kitchen extension / conservatory and wondering if a modern glass conservatory would be affordable or if its in fact more expensive than a standard extension (which we've had in our current house)

TIA

If you want a full wood - glass number then it'll be about the same as an extension. If it's for a kitchen then think about heat (and the loss of) and lashings of glass...it could be unbearable. Part covered - part glass as an extension would probably end up being more practical and also think about which direction it faces. South or south west with no break in the light can be very difficult to deal with if you're in a glass box!

As for costs...well it depends on size, your desired spec and where you are in the country (SE notoriously more £$!)

Most of these"posh" conservatories look amazing in the brochures but glass can be a nightmare to live with, being both noisy and prone to extremes of temperature. Think very carefully before you go ahead; maybe a part-glass extension would be a more practical option.
