Blue quartz kitchen benchtop?

Kind of deep navy blue, with white gloss cabinets.

It's for a new build house and DH is keen to have something really modern - I tend to go for slightly more traditional, but feel like I could cope with modern if it has some colour (but definitely don't like black and white).
I'm just not sure if a coloured benchtop would be too much though...

I think it sounds lovely but you might have probs making sure cabinets, worktop, splashbacks and flooring all coordinate?

Hmmm, that is a point. It's an open-plan kitchen/dining/lounge so I guess we first need to decide on the flooring for the whole area - and it may be hard to find something that fits with kitchen and also with our lounge ideas...

I'm sure we can find splashbacks to coordinate with the blue, and then the cabinets would be white.

I saw dark blue quartz worktops in Magnet the other day, wasn't sure about them myself (thought a bit cold looking) but DH thought they were fab. I preferred the pistachio coloured one! Also have seen a lovely tutti frutti style quartz worktop - see www.granite-care.co.uk/gallery/quartz-worktops.

Friend over the road has one wall of very modern shiney blue units (think a little lighter than the blue at the top of the mumsnet page) floor to ceiling, fridge freezer in their somewhere.
Then on the other wall just base units in shiney white and an island unit all with white work tops.
Looks fab!
