Painted basin back splash?

I'm not keen on the tiled look - do I really need to tile this area or can I get away with using a moisture resistent paint?

If you have just painted the back splash - how did it work out? Did you end up tiling it anyway because it looked too grubby?

We never got around to tiling (a year ago) and it's still perfectly fine. Actually I think I'm going to need to repaint in another area because of condensation that's caused problems (it's a very small ensuite) so I'll do the whole shower room but the area around the sink is fine. (buy good paint - we did have some water marks from drips but a wet piece of paper towel cleared them away).

Thanks for that - I suppose if it got grubby I could just repaint...

I have never tiled splash backs. Wipe over or repaint. Paints are so good these days.
