Not sure where to post or if it's even worth posting but having a really bad few weeks 
. We're having a really tough time financially and last week DHs van started spewing out smoke. It's in garage and will probably be really expensive, but DH needs it for work. To top it all, my car "broke" today. It needs a new /reconditioned gear box which is very expensive, (been quoted £800 + VAT to recondition our gear box), we bought the car for just £800 about 6 months back!
It is otherwise a reliable car. Do you think it's worth paying out (on credit card - only option) or scrapping it and getting a new one?
Any thoughts appreciated. Can't even afford wine to drown my sorrows!!
