Garden furniture

We are going to buy new garden furniture tomorrow. Historically we've had a round table and 4 chairs. Are there any advantages to round or rectangle table. I realised that I was blindly going to buy exactly the same thing again (albeit this time much better quality I hope).

Rectangular tables are better for getting more people around if necessary. I like round though, it feels more social and, somehow, less formal.

Depends on how large a family you are and if you entertain.
How about a round table which extends into an oval for when there are more people to seat?

Bit late perhaps, as I see you were going out to buy today, but we have a lovely octagonal table - good for 4, but also seats 8, and is definitely more sociable than a rectangular one and a bit more unusual.

For anyone who lives in Suffolk, I highly recommend the garden furniture made by Genesis Orwell Mencap, a local charity who train and employ disabled people.

Thanks for your thoughts. We didn't get around to it today so perhaps we'll do it tomorrow.
