Creosote - what should I use?

I need to get hold of Creosote, or its equivalent for the weekend.

Creosote doesn't seem to "exist" as it were in your standard builders merchants. It's all Cuprinol bla bla bla. I assume it is similar stuff, but not sure what to pick to get the same finish/protection.

So, if I want an equivalent to creosote, what product that I might actually find in Homebase, am I after? The staff in our local branch are hopeless and looking on line hasn't made me any the wiser.

Thanks

Creosote is no longer available to home/DIY users so look for a poduct called "Creocote". It does the same job but is safer to use.

I used "creosote substitute" which Im reasonably sure I got in B&Q. Dosnt smell as lovely as real creosote does though..... apparently creosote is carcinogenic. I spent my youth splashing it everywhere on fence posts etc though!
