Raising money - for the roof

If you needed to raise 6k for replacement roof, how would you do about it...tag on to mortgage - is it easy to do these days?

How long do you think it will take you to repay the money? How much equity do you have?
I'm not sure it will be very easy to add 6K to your mortgage if your loan to value is already 90% plus. If you think you could repay it over a couple of years it might work out cheaper to get a personal loan - the interest on 6K over 25yrs will mount up.

I need 3k for replacing my lean-to. I am likely to pay majority of it with my credit card, and then hopefully will get a bonus from work and repay it quickly.

40k equity, loan value is 80%! I DOUBT I would qualify for a loan, I am poorer than the average church mouse on welfare support....god, why is life so shit sometimes. Thanks for your replies btw.
