attractive laminate worktops that are not pretending to be stone/wood?

Every laminate worktop I have seen so far is fake stone or fake wood. You have to pay ££££ to get something which actually doesn't look like it is pretending to be something else e.g. corian.

I don't think laminate can be beaten for practicality, I'd just love to see more of a range of styles. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I can't imagine what it would look like if it wasn't pretending to be something else. What about rubber? I think I may have seen rubber ones before or steel? I haven't really got a clue what I am talking about. Blush

Ikea have some nice laminate - white with a stainless steel trim.

Me neither Grin I foolishly wandered into the Magnet showroom and loved some of the colourful worktops they had on display - I don't even remember what they were, but they cost far more than granite. I am vaguely thinking that a similar effect might be achieved with laminate, but perhaps not!

We've just had rubber floor samples sent out, I am very dissapointed with how easily they stain and scratch when I've tested them, I can't imagine they would make good worktops, and we do a lot of cooking and are quite clumsy. Which is why I am reluctant to spend a fortune on something we are likely to damage, if at all possible.

maybe steel is an option...

Have you seen the cream laminate in Howdens?
www.howdens.com/product-range/kitchen-collection/worktops/square-edged-laminate-38mm-616mm-deep/cream/

I like it because like you said above it is not pretending to be wood or granite.
