Hi
Has anyone used filmcote to prevent heat/glare build up in your conservatory? Was it any good?
Thanks

Haven't used filmcote, sorry, but have recently rebuilt the conservatory which was horrendous both in winter and summer and is now usuable all year round.

What's your's like/made of?

My DH's parents have used something like this on their french windows, their house is south-facing and they wanted to ensure that the glare didn't fade their furniture and carpets.

TBH, not sure that it makes much difference in terms to the heat and brightness - they also have an awning and vertical blinds which they use.

Have you looked into 'perfect fit' blinds - we have them on our tri-folding doors on the back of the house. The blinds have a reflective material on the backing to minimise heat.

KangarooCaught,
When you say you rebuilt the conservatory, what do you mean? Is it still a conservatory (just a much better one), or have you changed it into a 'proper' part of the house, with walls etc.
We are about to move into a house with a conservatory, which I've never had, but fear might be too cold for 7 months of the year, and too hot/glary most of the rest of the time...

My parents used it, or something else very similar and while it does take a bit of the glare off, it certainly still gets very hot in the conservatory (west facing), although I think it was even hotter before, and we are in Scotland!
