Where can I find a private long term house rental in Hertsl?

We?re hoping to rent a house long term in Hitchin, Herts from July onwards and have so far been using the usual property portals to do searches, Rightmove etc. However, the houses that come up are from agencies and I?m wondering if I?m missing out on the private rental market. Does anyone know where I can find private rentals advertised, locally or otherwise? I've had a look on that Sarah Beeny site (can't remember what it's called but nothing in this area).

Get the local papers for the area you are interested in as well as the free ones. They are probably available online. Try the Hendon Times / Luton Times news groups.

Thanks, I don't live there so it's difficult to pick them up, however, if they're available online that would be great. Does anyone know what the local paper is called in Hitchin?

Why don't you do a bit of research yourself as you say you do "nothing"

We used to live near there. The local paper is (or was anyway) the Comet.

And the paper is available online. Don't know about the advertising part but presume it is.

Hitchin is nice. Station not in the middle of it though. Good fast trains into London although expensive. Lots of quite yummy mummies. Plenty of activities for babies and children. Think the good schools have quite small catchments.
