Black out blinds for sash windows???

Hi, I am on desperate need of some help..... The sun rises at the front of our Victorian house, so naturally our bedrooms are flooded with light, and my DD thinks it's time to wake ip at 5.45, and this is just going to get earlier and earlier!!!

My problem is we have original sash windows, so no recess for a roller black out blind to for (these are what we used at our last house, only moved here in september - nights darkening!!)

Has any one good any solution or tried and tested methods for successful blackout blinds on such windows? They will be used with curtains too....

Thanks in advance.... A tired mummy..... X

These are fantastic, cheap and do the job very well.

you can buy black out lining for the curtains - though this doesn't stop seepage at the side.
Double sided velcro is a great cheat though. You can attach it to the edges of the curtains and then down the frame. When opened it shouldn't be seen if you can just draw the curtains up to the frame rather than across it.

We had the same problem of huge windows, we found a local company and they make blackout blinds for any window, and they dont let any light in at all...
It was a while ago but try them really helpful...
