As it says really. I have made ds a fab green stripey/camouflage roman blind. My first ever. I bought a side-winder kit on the internet. Finally finished sewing and fitting. Tied the cords as I thought I should and the blind doesn't go up!

Not sure where I have gone wrong :( any suggestions???

Does this help at all? If not, google roman blind tutorial for more help!

the threads need to go all the way up to the top of the blind, and each one needs to run along the top of the blind to the side where you want the cord to dangle

ideally you have an eyelet level with the top of the blind to thread them all through and leave a long tail to use to raise and lower the blind

I'll go find a link!

Wow, quick replies, many thanks. I'm trying to keep up/view from my phone. (No computer - another story!).

I'll take a look and try to sort it out quietly and in the dark as Ds is sock on asleep in his room now.

I have definitely done the cords incorrectly. I'll keep you posted.

Making the blind was a great idea at the time. Husband did the drilling work. No plaster fell off the wall and we didn't have a huge barny. I knew things were going too well :)

I checked out the link, I loved the blind she made.

I have used a "side-winder kit", a bit like a roller blind mechanism, so I can't quite see how the cords tie???

Looking at this link I think I could have saved a few pennies by going down the DIY route.

Any ideas on Side-winder kit setting up?
