Tiles - Paint or Transfers

We need to update our kitchen, on the titchiest of budgets!

Has anyone painted wall tiles? Was it successful? Is there such a thing as gloss tile paint?

Has anyone used transfers, such as these:
www.stickandgo.com/shop/index.php?cPath=28 ? They look like a good idea, but are they awful in reality??

the success to painting tiles is putting the right undercoat underneath it. However, it still won't last for ever probably a year or so before it chips.
