We have just bought a lovely new king size bed and now we need to get a new matress to match the size of the bed. Any recommendations?

also our current mattress is not that old and don't want to throw it away - does anyone know if charities will take them? we would store it for when and if we get a bigger house but we don't have any room for it.

Thanks all!

Just got a great one from M&S and it had 30% off! It was a dual zone (DH likes firm, I like medium) zip link one.

Silent Night memory foam deluxe- like sleeping on a cloud.

You could try putting your old mattress on Freecycle or Freegle to give away (I can't do links but you can google them) we have got rid of loads of stuff that way (and found stuff too!)Someone is bound to want it

i was thinking of doing that Rian...i hope that someone will want it!

I second Freecycle, someone will bite your hand off for it. I love it - I even managed to get someone to come and pick up a broken vacuum cleaner that was left in our house.

Do a bit of research - I think pocket sprung are supposed to be good - and then go online for a good deal. I think we got ours from mattressman for a good deal with next day delivery.

We bought a new mattress two years ago. We were intending to have a memory foam one but the knowledgable man in John Lewis told us they are hot int he summer becasue the fabric doesn't have so many air pockets.

We bought a Vi-spring one from John Lewis. It was about £1200 (we thought we'd be spending about £500) but my god it's the best money we ever spent!

Miracoil by Silentnight! Its pocket sprung, with a layer of memory foam on top. Doesn't get hot at all. Best thing I ever bought- so good that we now get backache if we sleep in hotels, as have been so spoilt at home! Best thing- it only cost us about £200 online, for a double :)

We also bought a Vi-Spring one in John Lewis. Never intended to spend all that dosh but we did and have never regretted it. Absolute bliss.

sprung at the bottom - memory foam on top - absolutely brilliant and cursing that it took me so long to do it

anyone bought a Salus mattress? we saw one today on offer and it was quite comfortable but not sold on memory foam yet.

We have a pocket sprung one with memory foam on top and it is so comfy. I like a fairly firm mattress and it is great. We god dd a new bed a couple of years ago and she got this kind of mattress (not deliberate) and i was so jealous of how comfortable it was, just had to get the new mattress for us to. I think it is a silentnight one. May have got it from Argos I think when there was an offer on, about 1/2 price. Had it for over a year now and it is not too hot in summer.
