I have acquired some pax wardrobes off ebay, but they are a different colour to my exisiting wardrobes. Has anybody tried painting over ikea pax veneer?

Any tips gratefully received!

It's probably doable if you prime it first. Why not buy a Pax drawer front or something small in the same finish and see how it works out?

My mum painted all her Billy bookcases - am guessing that's the same sort of veneer?

She used a semi-gloss paint I think. It looks fine anyway :)

I painted some "wood effect" wardrobes and doors - lightly sanded and then 2 coats of eggshell paint as its hard wearing and doesnt need undercoat/primer (according to my dad and grandad who are builders and carpenters)

Thanks for the tips - I wonder if melamine paint would help? Would it still need sanding?
