How much to tip builders/fitters if you are pleased with the job....?

As we speak there are men installing a new kitchen for me. It is a difficult job; the kitchen hasn't been replaced since 1983 (I think) and the room is only 2 metres x 2 metres so it is difficult work.

They are doing a brilliant job and working really, really hard. I can tell it's going to be fantastic when it's finished.

The men work for a builders/fitters company. Eg, not for themselves.

I want to give them a tip at the end but how much to give them? Any suggestions? Thanks.

£50 each? £100 each?

I was just about to post this! Our kitchen fitter has been really good so far (don't want to jinx it though as its not finished yet!)

I really have no idea to be honest. I'm in the North east so I guess it would be a lesser average amount up here, whereabouts are you?

I think #50 would be generous and appreciated (you might also like to say to them that if they leave their contact details you will happily pass them onto other people - although they have been sent by a big company, they probably aren't employed by them, just called for when needed).

Supa I wouldnt tip a plumber or electrician that came to do say a small half days job, but when our joiner was with us over a period of 5 weeks doing loads of work we gave him £40 extra and a case of beer. Might just do te same for the kitchen fitter actually.

It has never occurred to me to tip plumbers/electricians/joiners, etc. Why? You pay them a extortionate rate for the job already.

£50 sounds generous to me. I've never tipped a workman but can see why you'd like to. Personally I'd tend towards case of beer or bottle of something, though actually money would probably be more appreciated.

I do when they go the extra mile but not £50 each. £50 for all of them to 'have a drink'.

Maybe I'll give them £50 to split. They really have done a very good job. I've never seen people work that hard!
