Help,I live in a small house with 2 DC's and 2 dogs and no flooring seems to last.
I have lino in the kitchen (but it is wearing out) and carpet in the lounge/hallway which is grubby, wornout & moth-eaten (literaly).
So if I were to put new flooring throughout my downstairs what would look nice, be easy to clean, be hardwearing & suit a period property?
Just to make it a bit harder I would rather not have tiles as I am clumsy & the house is already freezing cold!!

What about a really decent factory lacquered wooden floor and then just have a really nice rug in the living room

Thanks for the reply Smile, would that be really expensive? & do you think dogs claws would scratch it?

Wood isn't any more expensive than good quality carpet but fitting it can be pricey. I was also going to mention stone or tiles but stone is definitely quite expensive. It does last though.

We are looking at putting Amtico in our bathroom (we really want wood, but maybe not great idea in bathroom!). Got some samples through the post and it looks great.

People keep saying "oooh, that's that posh lino innit?" which is putting me off a BIT as I am a huge and disgusting snob.

Sea grass sounds ideal for you.

Must go shopping & look at all these options, thanks for your help.
