Laura Ashley carpet runner - worth it?

We are decorating the hall, stairs and landing. I saw a Laura Ashley striped carpet runner in a magazine which we both really like. I've got samples of similar, but cheaper, carpets but they just don't look the same. I'm just a bit worried about spending so much if it's not going to last. Has anyone got one? Any views welcome please!

Oh I love those stripey carpets. My favourite is from here I can dream

I've got the duck egg one from LA and it's lovely. It also says dry clean only as do my DC's gingham ones from LA but they are cotton and I have washed them lots of times and they come up really well - no fading so I'd recommend them.

I have a lovely large living room rug from LA, it has been in the washing machine a few times, (you are not supposed to!) due to coffee spills etc, it has curled up a bit on the edges, other than that it still looks lovely!

The stair runner? My mum had it - lasted well. Looks pretty like new after 6 years.

Thanks for the replies. I'm waiting for another couple of samples but I really don't think they're going to look as nice. We managed to borrow a biggish sample of the LA one and have got it over a few stairs at the moment - I love it but DH thinks it's too light. We don't wear our shoes in the house though so I can't see that it'll get too dirty.

ASecretLemonadeDrinker I'm encouraged that your mum's looks pretty like new after 6 years!
