Farrow and Ball paint. Undercoat??

Am looking at using F&B paint in my new living room. Do I have to use the F&B undercoat or would another (cheaper!)brand be OK?

Many thanks!

I usually just used regular matt white dulux

Thank you noddy you have just saved me much cash! Did the finish look OK?

It looks fine.I usually paint the whole house in white dulux and then do f and b later when I see what i want in the rooms. It gives a very good finish

noddyholder - may i hijack briefly? I've been admiring your profile pics. Would you mind saying what paint colour is on your living room walls please? I'm just doing my front room from scratch - replastered, new oak floor etc - and yours looks lovely Smile

I am not in that house now!But it is called chalky downs dulux mixed paint. It was a lovely colour really recommend it as coverage is great and all my furniture etc looked great with it.

Ooh, thank you. I'll pick up a paint card tomorrow. is the ceiling/woodwork brilliant white? I've got a reclaimed fireplace to put in, with teal blue tiles.

Thanks. I'd prefer to paint it white and live in it a bit, but it would be too much of a faff.
