Concrete floor in kitchen

We've been renovating and extending our Victorian terrace for what feels like forever and we're in the home straight now! We are a little stumped with the kitchen floor.

It's concrete, and we had laminate on it before. But I just love the idea of painting it with F&B's Brinjal (It will go with everything else - all quite tasteful, I hope ) and then using a big rag rug under the table to keep toes cosy when we're eating.

Is this completely demented?

I would say it isn't a good idea.

Polished concrete can look ok (if you like that sort of look), but I would think a painted concrete floor will still powder up, be cold, and look like concrete with paint on it.

See, that's what my head is saying. sadly, my heart is off in a completely different direction

I'd go to a trade paint place and ask advice on concrete sealant. Then you can paint over that.

I painted the concrete floors in the bedrooms of our old home and it really wasn't very cold. It does scuff and chip quite a lot though so you will need to redo it every few months (ours was white which was probably a mistake...).

What kind of paint did you use? And did you cover it with a top coat at all?

I used specialist floor paint. Can't remember the brand but you can find it in B&Q.
