Thinking about making an offer on a house but need a guestimate on how much double glazing will cost...

Hi. We've seen a house on a fairly busy road we're going to make an offer on tomorrow but the double glazing they have is really old so would need to be replaced and i think would also help reduce the noise of the traffic you can hear on the road. I just want to get an idea on how much replacing double glazing might cost so we can factor it into our offer. Probably looking at 7-8 windows.
Thanks.

My parents have just replaced theres for about £5500 I think.

8 windows, a front door with large glass windows either side of it and french doors out onto the garden.

Great thanks. That's a real help as I had no idea as we've never done had to do it before.

If you avoid all the big Anglian/Safestyle type companies and go to a local independent window installer it will be less than this. Make sure you go on recommendation though.

An average window will be around £300-500+ depending on size, number of units, number of openers etc. A door starts at about £700.

That's pvc windows, by the way. Wooden frames will cost more.

And don't believe any gumph you hear about 'free energy efficient K glass'. It's a legal requirement that you have that glass in replacement windows, not a luxury added extra!

Thanks cuppa. Sounds like you're a pro at this!
