Best wooden flooring that will survive 2 pre-schoolers

Finally found a house to buy and want to look for flooring for a large family room 21ft by 12ft plus probably the hallway. I want it to look good (ideally oak) but survive 2 small children and their push alongs etc.. so nothing that scratches too badly. Not that impressed by the Amtico I've seen other people's houses. Is there anything else. Would love real wood but I'm not sure it will last.

I have a real wood oak floor in my lounge and dining room and hall. I've had it for 5 years (have a 5 year old and nearly 2 year old) and its fab! Any spills, food, drinks can be mopped easily, its easy to clean and looks great. Ours cost about £2k so not cheap but it will last another 10 years easy.

My only negative is its a hard surface, so when little ones fall as they inevitably do, its unforgiving. My dd had a nasty accident in September and landed face first onto the floor, and bashed her teeth very badly. So just a warning there...

its scratches I'm worried about really as they have loads of ride on toys.
