cat pee on sofa

any solutions for this? I thought we'd solved it by using all the stuff on the market on it, but last night had my book group round and I realised the smell was still there [embarrassed].
It's my favourite sofa, but there's no point having it if it can't be sat on. Are there cleaning firms who deal with this?

My tom cat went through a phase of pissing everywhere, when I moved.

High pressure steam was the only thing that I found got rid of the smell completely.

My Tom cat went through a stage of peeing in the house too. The best thing I found to take out the smell was 'cat stain and odour remover' from pets at home.
Theres also a plug in you can get from the vets (think it's called feliway) that's meant to relax the cats and stop them doing stuff like that. I had the spray form of it and after a couple of weeks he stopped doing it and hasn't done it since.

Have you had it professionally cleaned (one of those steamer things that they use for carpets)? I always have a go at any stain with white vinegar (soak the area then dab with clean towel) and/or bicarb.

Bicarb should get the smell out, best to leave it on overnight though. For cat pee generally 10 or so drops of olbus oil in a jug of water is great for getting rid of the smell and it puts them off from spraying there again. We use in on our front door to stop a local stray from spraying it but I would be cautious about using it on fabric as it may stain.

We went away and our cat sitter decided not to look after our kitty properly, we got back and my beautiful leather sofa had been peed on amongst other things :os

Tried all the commercial stuff, but you have to be careful with leather, in the end, desperation really, I chucked a whole jar of sandalwood and orange essential oil down the sides and back, smelt like a hippy weed den for a week, but solved the issue, kitty won't even sit on sofa now!

Try 1001 No Vac Carpet & Upholstery Freshener - its a quick drying fine foam in an aerosol can. Couple of pounds from JS or similar - no good for stains but has masked effectively smell from our tom weeing on the rug (again!) when steam cleaning and washing didn't help. It doesn't seem to mark at all (had to test on pale upstairs carpet when ds took his cue from the cat yesterday and wee'd on dd's floor Shock). Also masked ingrained rotting banana smell in car....what a delightful family I have!

thanks all, maybe I won't have to throw it out after all
