DD, 6 has the following bed:

www.barkerandstonehouse.co.uk/furniture/search/product/Romance/sizes-255-60136/

The picture doesn't really do it justice, its a lovely bed.

We move into our new place in a fortnight and I have ordered the following matching drawers for her:

www.barkerandstonehouse.co.uk/furniture/search/product/Romance/2-255-60135/

Her room wont be massive (about 2.5 metres by 2.8 metres). Most of her current stuff will fit in the drawers, out of season things will go into our Ottoman bed and coats/jackets in the big storage area in our au-pair's room. Toys will go in underbed storage boxes.

My sister sent me a link to this earlier:

mto.lauraashley.com/upholstery-and-furniture/furniture/cabinets/detail-range/3375946/bramley-armoire.

Only marginally more expensive than the chest of drawers, free delivery (its £30 at B&S), will hold loads more stuff however could potentially look very messy. Possibly some toys or at least out of season clothes and towels/sheets could go in the bottom shelf in addition to clothes above and I could buy some woven baskets for underwear/tights etc.

Your thoughts? what woudl you go for a do you think the armoire would look messy?

The LA sale is ending very shortly and I would need to order quickly so no pressure Grin

drawers. i think the armoire will be really annoying for clothes. and look messy as you say.

JustKeepSwimming · 25/01/2011 21:30

Hmm, the armoire is tempting but i hate the chicken wire look on the doors.
If you could somehow create some sort of curtain to go behind the doors maybe?

Think your plan with the drawers works well though it's hard to tell from just a picture how useful they are, how deep the drawers are, etc.

How old is your DD?

MrsPresley · 25/01/2011 21:33

I'd go for the drawers, the armoire will look messy unless everything is folded to perfection and colour co-ordinated Grin

Thanks all - so the view seems to be to go with the drawers so far Grin

Hello JQS - good to see you here! D is 6 and wanting bright pink melamine storage. I've had to put my foot down as it does not co-ordinate with the serene calmness I have planned Grin

Let me know if anyone has other thoughts on the storage, I'll order it tomorrow

Drawers definitely. Armoire will always look untidy.

Sinkingfeeling · 26/01/2011 09:22

I'd go for the drawers too - easier for your dd to access. An armoire would look great filled with beautifully folded bed linens, but not with a child's clothes, IMHO. :)

Go for the drawers. Highly unlikely that the LA furniture will be the same colour/finish as the existing range.
