Come cheer me up - missed out on dream home

Missed out on dream, dream home today. Total bugger because it would have been our first place, after a long, long wait. Can't imagine we'll find anything we like nearly as much at the price we can pay.

DH even more gutted than me.

Please cheer me up with happy tales of missing out on The One, but finding something just as good later. Anyone?

My dream home fell through the day before we were due to exchange. It was beautiful, all stripped wood floors and proper fire place and generally just gorgeous. we had to find somewhere else quick as didnt want to lose our buyer, we got a call from the agent and saw this house before it went on the market, put in an offer and got it. dh was not excited, I was only thing missing was the gorgeous fire place (which I have since bought), we have a bigger garden which is now full of chickens and cats and dogs and I wouldnt have been able to have any of these hobbies in the other house, it only had a small yard. I now spend most of my time in the garden, the house is ion a better location, cost less money and I cant see me ever wanting to move.
Will that do? It is such a horrible feeling but something else will come up and it will be better.

We missed out on our dream house at least twice but each time the sale fell through and 7 months after first seeing it we moved in Grin

I've missed out on dream houses several times - and another one does come along. The one that I remember most was a shell apartment near Borough Market - was great but vendor was arse and solicitor finally advised us to walk away. We did but with very heavy heart - drove by a couple of years later and the vendor, who owned the land around it, had completely built all over the attached outside space hemming the flat we wanted in and blocking off its light.

You will find a better house and be relieved that this one fell through.

If it's fallen through it's no longer your dream home. Something better will be along, if not sooner then later.

We found a dream home but haven't been able to sell ours, so have taken the decision to stay put. I have spent the last week or so listing all the little things that were a bit wrong that we were prepared to overlook and telling myself that the next one will be better.

Just tell yourself it would have had damp in the cupboards or nightmare neighbours or something... Something else will come along, especially if you stay positive and focused. Good luck! Smile

Thanks all, have been brainstorming reasons it would have not been the right place... And feeling slightly better but still gutted at the prospect of what else is in our price range... Northernlurker, LOVE your story but trying to quell the fantasy that other buyer will fall through and it will be ours ...
