Tiles cracking

We had our bathroom re-done before Xmas. I was woken then during the cold snap to a sound like a pistol shot, twice, and eventually saw that two of the new tiles had (separately) split from top to bottom.

Fast forward to today: 7 tiles have split - some from top to bottom, some from side to side, at different heights and on different walls.

Any idea, anyone??

where is the bathroom ? Is it on an outside wall ? Any evidence of movement of the wall ? Any other cracks ?

Very cold could have frozen the ground and made it move a bit (frost heave).

I don't think it is much the builder could have done - because tiles have grout in between which would presumably give more than the tiles normally.

I would be investigating if I were you.

Did you have your walls plastered / cemented? If they didn't wait for the plaster / cement to dry this can cause tiles to crack or fall off, because the wall essentially stays wet. Or if it does dry it tightens. We had our bathroom done recently and had a 4 week wait for the plaster to dry before we allowed them to tile / paint. You can tell its dry because it all goes light in colour.
