Help me create a Indian-themed bedroom...

Just bought a new house and would really like an ethnic-inspired Bollywood style bedroom. Where do I start looking for ideas and inspirations? I quite like gold and plum colours and am into a bit of bling and am thinking of having a bit of contemporary twist. Any help appreciated!

We used to call our campervan Karma Kamper because I did it all out like that. I live nowhere near Luton but it was well worth a trip to Bury Park for fabrics/sari materials etc to make curtains/cushions/throws/and wall hangings.
There's a shop not far from me Trading Boundaries that does lovely wooden furniture it's a nice place to visit but it looks like they also sell online.
And you need one of these and a wooden elephant.

If you live anywhere near an Indian neighbourhood, go and buy masses of sari fabric (some really beautiful ones can be absurdly cheap - a fiver and so on). I would also ask any Indian friends if they can give you a pointer in the direction of wedding furnishing suppliers so you can get lots of embroidered hangings and cushions etc.

I think the thing is to be quite brave - you do have to build up layers of quite terrifying colours but it is worth it for the end effect.
