House name ideas

We are buying a house that I love but it has a really silly name. Any ideas for a new one? Irish or Welsh house names maybe?

DH suggested Feck Hall and Kumincyde but oddly enough I said no.

look at the deeds and see if there is anything there that might give you a clue

I'm assuming its an old house. if it is a new one deeds won't help - try and give it a name that has some connection with the area..

lol @ Kumincyde!!!

Are there any books that you particularly love where you could pinch the name of a house?

I was watching something on TV yesterday and the lady had named her house Pemberley after Mark Darcy's Pemberley House, I thought it was lovely.

you need to ask post office about change especially if no house number as you can not duplicate or similar in area

one of the houses in our village is called "pantiles", as in "the roof".
ds1 was wondering if the people who live there like walking around without their pants on though..

no suggestions here, but maybe not pantiles?

There is no house number and I am struggling to come up with ideas. I always liked Avalon but there are a few in these parts. DH suggested Tir-Na-Nog when he stopped being silly.

Any plants or trees in the garden that could inspire you?

Geographical features nearby?

what kind of house is it? cottage, semi, detached? In the country or village or town? How old?

How about the Gaelic for 'Welcoming Home' or something along those lines?
