Wickes kitchens - any good?

If you bought a kitchen from here would you recommend it? Anything you would've changed or don't like about your design? Would you recommend you get them to fit kitchen as well?

Just curious as visited Wickes this morning, found their planning /design person to be very good and now have pretty good design for new kitchen and prices are good esp now in the sale. But almost feels too good to be true IYKWIM Any advice appreciated

We tested one of the drawers in the showroom - applied a little pressure and it fell off it's runners... probably down to poor fitting or something but it was enough to make us exit the building pretty quickly.
Prices were very good though...I guess you could get the kitcehn and get a joiner to fit high quality Blum mechanisms for the runners.

DH (who fits kitchens) says they're much of a muchness. Get your own fitter in though, someone who comes recommended.

TheVisitor, does your DH rate any particular kitchen above the others?
Anyoen know if Benchmarx is the same quality as Wickes? I think they are the trade arm, interesting to hear how they compare.

Ours is Wickes, and has been in for 5 years now. It's still perfect, and has put up with a lot of abuse

Chicken - can I ask did you source your own appliances and work surface?

I redesigned the layout of my inadequate and small kitchen in my last home, and as I was on a tight budget but needed to make the place look presentable to sell it. I bought a kitchen at Wickes for about £550. It looked really good and did the job it was meant to do. Got a new bathroom suite there too, very reasonable and had no problems with it. I'd recommend them.

Nope, everything came with the kitchen. Washing machine has just died a death, but oven, hob, extractor hood and dishwasher are still going strong. We have a fake wood type worktop, which I would like to replace. Other than that, it's like new.

OUrs is a Wickes kitchen but from the trade arm of the business called Benchmarx. The cupboards come pre made rather than flat packed.

Our builder nstalled ours.

We got our solid wood worktops from Barncrest.

Very happy with ours. Been in 18 months and still great.
