Can't find anywhere to buy fed up

Can everybody who is thinking about selling please stick your house on the market! Given up trying to get a chain to work after it fell apart again recently. Will be homeless in 6 weeks and can't find anywhere to buy. Very little supply of family houses in the area I am looking for although a few hopeful/mad sellers who think their house is worth the same as it did 2 years ago or even 6 months ago. Even the estate agents think they are overvalued but vendors won't shift even though many are old/sick and have tried to sell their properties fo a year. Arghhhhhh.

Will it make much difference for your bargaining position if you're in rental??

We've been in rented for nearly 3 years and I feel your pain.

Saw and liked a house at beginning of November and made an offer at 20% under asking price - not surprisingly it was turned down.

However agent phoned yesterday to ask if we were still interested and to say the vendor would now accept our offer.

We're in a little bit of shock and now trying to get mortgage sorted asap.

But I think its definitely worthy looking above your budget and making offers.

Still a lot of over-valued properties out there and mortgages are getting harder and harder to get.

Breaking the chain does help our position although our buyer is in rental so I think we are in a good position now. Its not like we are losing out on many houses due to the competition as there are so few houses for sale. We are looking above our budget.

We are in a great financial position but vendors won't shift on price. We are waiting to exchange before putting in a couple of cheeky offers as we have nothing to lose. Neither of the properties are quite right though and we wanted to do the final family house move. I don't think I can face this house moving again.

No, me either. It's been 13 years and two children since we last bought/sold and i'd forgotten how horrible and stressful it is.

For some reason, we always manage to buy a house from somebody "difficult"...
