Banbury is fine. There are some rough areas, but so long as you do your research and don't do as friends did and move from London to Bretch Hill without realising and thinking you gotten yourself a bargain, you'll be fine.

Some of the surrounding villages are gorgeous and afaik the Warriner in Bloxham is a very well regarded secondary school. Bloxham is lovely, Deddington and Adderbury are both great too.

Hook Norton has an excellent primary. Guess secondary will be in either Chippy or Bloxham.

Further north, Ettington has a very good primary, not sure about secondary though. Long Compton is lovely. Shipston has good facilities but I always think it slightly odd but cannot put my finger on why.

I was told that Shipston has a terrible drugs problem...no idea if there's any truth in that!!!

Shipston...with a drug problem? Shock No wonder I have a slightly strange feeling every time I go there! Grin

Actually, someone who was meant to be buying the house next door to us was put off as he apparently saw some teens drug dealing up the lane. Which he probably did. But that makes this village no worse to any other in the country.

OP, I'd move to Shiney's village if I were you. She's lovely Smile

Resident of Shipston told us at length that it was RIDDLED with drugs...

Anyone from there who'd like to verify Grin

What is it about Oxfordshire that draws you? The larger towns, apart from Banbury, Thame and Wantage are Witney, Bicester, Abingdon, Chipping Norton...Oxfordshire is a large county, chock full of villages.

Of these latter four towns I prefer Chipping Norton (NW Oxfordshire/Cotswolds) but tbh none of them are great shakes. But I am a reluctant refugee from London so have a skewed perspective. Chipping Norton Secondary doesn't get particularly good results but I am told it is 'friendly'...Hmm

Hi
We're looking at moving to a village in North Oxfordshire, but have no idea which one. North Aston seems super expensive, as does Kirtlington (they both look lovely). Lower Heyford has a station, which is great, but the houses seem quite small (?), and again it's expensive. Upper Heyford is near the station, and seems better value for money, but what about the airbase? Is is a nice village?
Any help would be really appreciated!!!
Thank you!
Jane
